With the fossil fuels of the world depleting at such a fast pace the whole world has been looking for alternate energy resources. The earth watchers have also threatened that if we do not regulate our energy consumption all our fossil fuel sources will vanish in the next 50 years. Also related to the issue is the subject of global warming. Harnessing the renewable energy systems has been a global challenge. While technology has existed to harness such resources these ventures have not been commercially viable. A technology to get the renewable energy sources to the common man is required. Southwest Power has come up with a fantastic new invention to save power. It uses the wind energy whose potential is virtually unlimited. It has invented a wind turbine which is ideal for home use. Called the Skystream the turbine is installed on a 35 foot high tower. It connects with a standard utility hookup. The turbine is highly sensitive and rotates even at low speeds of 8 miles per hour. For a normal house hold it can provide up to 80% of its household electricity. If produced at a large scale it can considerably reduce our consumption of power. |
