US Botanic Gardens' summer exhibition this year focuses on sustainability with a title that's tailor-fit for the event-- One Planet - Ours! Botanic Gardens teamed up with Southwest Windpower to bring the Skystream to the event's opening. Skystream is the first small residential wind generator. Designed specifically for consumers, the wind generator has the capacity to supply anything between 30 to 80 percent of an average home's total energy consumption. Moreover, since it's made for residential areas, the blades are forged with a curve to make the generator quieter than other conventional systems. In spite of its small size, it still requires half an acre of land to function optimally, and $8,500 of your money for the initial installation. US Botanic Gardens' One Planet - Ours! Exhibit commenced last May 24 and would continue until October 13, 2008. |
