In February Spain broke a record for renewable energy production. The European Country is estimated to have produced enough energy from wind to satisfy the monthly demands of neighboring Portugal.

Abu Dhabi renewable energy firm, Masdar, has entered into the preliminary stages of development for the first utility grade wind farm in Seychelles. Partnered with the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Masdar has been contracted to supplement an initial 11% of the Seychelles energy demands with wind energy.

Since the 1980s, the United States has been working to develop a smarter grid. The goals of the smart grid have remained largely the same however the methods and technology for improving the grid have developed – as has the strain on the grid.

One of the globes greatest wind resource sites was sold off, with the exception of 32.5%. Mexican Infrastructure Fund (MMIF) is glad to announce the partnership with their new co-investors. The 396 MW project will continue its development progress uninterrupted.

Mongolia will begin construction of its first utility scale wind project. 40 miles south of Ulan Bator the $100 million wind project is sited for development. The estimates are for the project to supplement more than 5% of Mongolia’s current energy demands, and possibly set an example for the region.
