How much wind energy does it take to power a lightbulb for a year?

It’s amazing to think that a breeze on a sunny day can turn into something powerful enough to create electricity to run our homes. What other super powers does wind have? In our series "What can wind do?" we will explore unique ways wind is changing our world.

Check out this infographic that shows how much fuel (fossil or renewable) it takes to power a lightbulb for a year:

To light the bulb via wind power it would only take a 1.5MW turbine operating at 25 percent capacity for 2 hours, 20 minutes and 9 seconds.

Power from coal on the other hand would require 714 pounds of burned coal.

Learn more about how a personal wind turbine can provide power to more than just a lightbulb in your home.
